Individual Somatic Coaching Services
Accepting New Clients
I’m finishing my training as a somatic coach through Strozzi Institute and am officially accepting new clients. I am able to hold sessions in-person in the Cincinnati area, or on a virtual call through zoom. Typically, the arc of a coaching commitment is ten 60-minute sessions, meeting weekly or biweekly.
What is “Somatic Coaching?”
Coaching involves working together with a client to establish meaningful commitments that align with the client’s values and passions, and providing guidance and practices to help move toward those commitments. “Somatic” coaching is a form of coaching that works with the whole person, including the physical body. One guiding principle of somatics is that our bodies take on a literal “shape” throughout our life based our experiences and conditioning. All of our personal characteristics and patterns, therefore, show up in our physical body: whether in a straight back, a clenched jaw, hunched shoulders, or wide eyes . The work of somatics involves becoming aware of the body, releasing contractions that no longer serve us, and committing to regular practices through which we begin to embody a new shape that is more aligned with our values and passions.
What difference do I want to make for people?
My vocation as a coach is rooted in a desire to help people…
…open up to deeper and richer possibilities for themselves and their communities.
…explore and know themselves: their gifts, their patterns, their longings.
…bring their lives into alignment with those longings.
…increase their capacity to feel deeply, without becoming overwhelmed or reactive.
…embody their values in their everyday interactions and relationships.
…find the intersections between their own healing and the justice they seek in the world.
…feel deeply listened to, supported, and empowered to move through life with dignity.
…see that their unique gifts are being called upon by the world.
Who do I work with?
I look forward to working with anyone open to positively transforming their lives. I’m especially eager to work with people who are dedicated to bettering the world in some way, for instance educators, community organizers, or people who work in helping professions. As a long time high school teacher, I know first hand that those of us in this type of work often pour a lot of ourselves into other people or into creating positive change in the world, and sometimes let our own needs and healing fall by the wayside.
What can clients expect after working with me for ten sessions?
•Clarity about and commitment to what’s important to them in life
•Greater understanding of self-limiting patterns: their root, why they come up, how they’ve been helpful in the past, and where they are now getting in the way
•A much greater awareness of feelings and sensations, whether positive or negative, and an enhanced ability to allow those feelings to run their course before reacting to them in ways that aren’t conducive to their values and purpose
•Increased connection with resilience and joy, and a greater capacity to move through sadness, anxiety, grief
•Daily somatic practices that will keep them moving in alignment with values, purpose, and commitments
•Release of long-held contractions keeping them guarded and not fully free
•Enhanced ability to connect with others
•More freedom of choice in their daily lives
•An understanding that collective justice is intertwined with and indispensable to personal transformation
•Greater connection with the beyond and that which is greater than themselves
Payment
I invite clients to choose the amount they are willing and able to pay using a sliding scale*. This model is based on a firm belief that all people are worthy of access to healing and transformation work, regardless of their ability to pay for it. Those who are in a position to, because they have access to generational wealth, have benefited from historic advantages, or out of a commitment to economic justice, are asked to pay more. This allows those who would otherwise lack access to coaching services to pay less. In short, each person contributing the right about for them helps meet the needs of the whole. That said, the suggested pricing is as follows:
Accessible: $60/session Fair Access: $90/session Supporter: $120/session
However, I don’t want the cost to turn anyone away, and am happy to discuss other options, including exchanges.
*Find more information about sliding scale pricing at the website "Embracing Equity.”
